two of the largest democracies (us and india) have leaders who will fight for their own agenda before those who can't fight for themselves

→ decline in global freedom despite civilians desire for so

in india, governing quickly lost the sense of democracy by purposefully leaving muslims without rights or a place to call home. while civilians have taken it upon themselves to try and change the matters of their government, they are oftentimes shut out, hurt, or legally charged

china STILL violates and strips freedoms and basic human rights from uighur muslims, with horrendous living conditions and torturous day to day life, china has defended and claimed ends to these conditions despite the very evident hatred uighur muslims live with.

while some democracies have stood up against china (or other countries repressing rights,) others are turning a blind eye or even supporting them

social media efforts to harm others and protect the public view of their country (china)

although in recent years, us politicians have spoken on the abuse and harm happening in other countries, they have been reluctant in hopes to maintain or gain relationships

modern democracies are falling in a cycle of promoting change only to use it as an excuse to use "extreme policies" on those who seek the very freedom promised

→ these sorts of issues are happening ALL over the world and not simply in america

as we've talked about in class, those who are more extreme and speak louder are often viewed as the majority in the eyes of many things. religion, politics... we see this radical groups rise and take the standings of "leftist" and "right winged" groups around the world

"The mass protests that emerged or persisted during 2019 in every region of the world are a reminder that the universal yearning for equality, justice and freedom from oppression can never be extinguished"

→ as someone just now breaking into the professional and voting world, it's scary to read and see as individuals work so hard to bring change, the government in the end will do what it wants and recently, haven't done what is always right for the people it governs
